Two men yesterday pled not guilty to charges of five counts of conspiracy to peddle crystal methamphetamine or “ice” on the island during a hearing before the U.S. District Court.<\/p>\n
The complaint filed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office said a cooperating witness bought “ice” from Juan W. Torres in the presence of Nicholas C. Pinaula.<\/p>\n
Federal Court Judge Alex R. Munson released Mr. Torres to his wife on third party custody. Mr. Pinaula was ordered released by the court on a $25,000 unsecured bond.<\/p>\n
On May 4, 1999, Drug Enforcement Agent\/ CNMI Task Force cooperating witness met with Mr. Torres and asked him for “ice”. But Mr. Torres directed the person to Mr. Pinaula who provided two plates of “ice” for $50.00<\/p>\n
On Sept. 14, 1999, Mr. Pinaula told the witness of the DEA\/CNMI Task Force that he had run out of ice and asked the person to wait. He then walked over to Mr. Torres and returned with three “plates” of the illegal substance. (LFR)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
