One of Saipan’s biggest and favorite events is happening 8:30 p.m. Friday night, May 5th inside Gilligan’s at the Hyatt Regency.<\/p>\n
It’s Saipan’s 9th Annual Cinco de Mayo Chili Cook-Off presented by Budweiser and Gilligan’s and hosted by Hans Mickelson.<\/p>\n
In the spirit of past Saipan chili cook-off, Gilligans’ and Budweiser have pick up the celebration fever of the world famous dish known as chili.<\/p>\n
For just $20 contestants can enter their “secret chili recipe” and have a chance at winning $1000 for 1st place, $500 for 2nd place, and $300 for 3rd place.<\/p>\n
Lot’s of other consolation prizes will be given away including a roundtrip tickets for two to Manila courtesy of Continental Micronesia.<\/p>\n
To add to the fun this year, a professional hotel\/restaurant category has been added.<\/p>\n
For a fee of only $50 chefs and cooks from Saipan’s restaurants can enter their brand of chili and have a chance of winning the coveted ‘Golden Jalapeno Award.”<\/p>\n
Entrance fee into Gilligan’s for non-chili contestants is $6 and includes two beers from the Budweiser Family of Beers.<\/p>\n
The $20 contestant fee and the $50 hotel\/restaurant category fee, as well as $ 1 from the $6 Gilligan’s entrance fee, will all be donated to the NMI Chapter of the American Cancer Society.<\/p>\n
As if this wasn’t enough a Super Cha-Cha contest will follow the chili judging.<\/p>\n
Major sponsors of the night are Gilligan’s, Budweiser, SGMA\/Saipan Garment Mfg. Assoc., GTE Pacifica, 103.9 KZMI-FM and SAIPANCELL Communications.<\/p>\n
