Sanchez, lamenting the series of engine breakdowns PSS buses go through on a daily basis.<\/p>\n<p>With three new blue bird model buses at PSS&#8217; disposal, Mr. Sanchez said, only eight more are needed for PSS to provide the best possible transportation services for all public school students on Saipan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The arrival of these buses really mitigated the pressing situation of our busing but we are still not on target,&#8221; Mr. Sanchez said.<\/p>\n<p>The PSS administration is reportedly requesting for more regular buses this summer to prepare for the busing demands in the next school year.<\/p>\n<p>The new additions to PSS&#8217; transportation services has been made possible through the efforts of the education commissioner and the deputy commissioner for administration, Mr. Sanchez added.<\/p>\n<p>The regular buses which arrived 3 weeks ago can accommodate 72 passengers each. It also has room for special students who are not wheelchair-bound.<\/p>\n<p>The arrival of the new vehicles brings to 18 the total number of PSS buses. Out of this number, only 13 are in running condition. The rest are non-operational due to the unavailability of parts.<\/p>\n<p>The PSS busing service is still awaiting for these parts to arrive from the mainland.<br \/>\nEarlier in the year, the PSS pupil transportation also acquired one special education bus for its SPED students.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;special ed&#8221; mini bus is an 18-passenger capacity vehicle equipped with a hydraulic lifter for students on wheelchairs.<\/p>\n<p>It can hold five wheelchaired individuals and accommodates 12 regular seats.
