{"id":51551,"date":"2000-05-16T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2000-05-16T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/95cf8a43-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2000-05-16T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2000-05-16T00:00:00","slug":"95cf8a57-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/95cf8a57-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"KES maintains 6-year accreditation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Western Association of Schools and Colleges has reaffirmed the six-year accreditation of Koblerville Elementary School after a thorough on-site review conducted by WASC committee members last April 13, 2000.<\/p>\n<p>WASC officials Harvey Buenconsejo and Joanne Nakashima, retired school administrators from the state of Hawaii, validated KES&#8217;s midterm progress report listing several areas of strengths.<\/p>\n<p>First, it commended the Parent Teacher Association for its &#8220;close working relationship&#8221; with the administration and staff.<\/p>\n<p>The report praised the shared decision making and consensus building efforts.<\/p>\n<p>One of the committee members also expressed admiration for the notable &#8220;community spirit&#8221; among students, teachers, and staff in the school.<\/p>\n<p>Another area of strength was KES&#8217;s keen follow-up in its mid-term self study.<\/p>\n<p>The WASC team also commended the school for its involvement in the community by developing the expected schoolwide learning results.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, KES was also successful in planning fun activities for its staff, according to committee members.<\/p>\n<p>The accreditation committee also enumerated four areas for the school to focus on during the next three years.<\/p>\n<p>WASC listed the alignment of the expected schoolwide learning results with curriculum and instruction and the PSS standards and benchmarks; the development of a variety of performance assessments, the alignment of technology to curriculum and instruction; and better communication of the financial management system to teachers as some of the areas which need further work.
