Camacho Elementary school will be holding its Cultural Day tomorrow, a whole day affair filled with activities celebrating the Polynesian and Micronesian cultures.<\/p>\n<p>GTC is commemorating the event for the first time in two years, according to Vice Principal and Student Services Officer TJ Litulumar.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We feel that it takes a lot of effort to organize such a celebration so we only do it once every two years,&#8221; Ms. Litulumar said.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s theme revolves around &#8220;Diversity in Culture&#8221; which will tackle eight different cultures within the Pacific region.<\/p>\n<p>To prepare for the event, students were made to research on the selected cultures of Hawaii, American Samoa, Tahiti, Northern Marianas, Chuuk, Yap, and the Marshall Islands.<\/p>\n<p>Makeshift booths and stations will feature displays of what the students have discovered through their research, according to the vice principal.<\/p>\n<p>Each class was made to choose an island nation to study during the last couple of months.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, GTC&#8217;s Cultural Day will present traditional dances, raffle draws, food sales, games, canoe paddling, fashion shows, and coconut Olympics.<\/p>\n<p>This event is being sponsored by the school&#8217;s Parent-Teacher Association who have been involved with the celebration&#8217;s planning from the very start.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They have really coordinated with the school especially in the coronation of the cultural king and queen,&#8221; said Ms. Litulumar.<\/p>\n<p>Activities for tomorrow&#8217;s affair kick off at 8:00 a.m. and will conclude at 2:30 p.m. (MM)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Gregorio T.
