The 14th Annual Conference of the Pacific Basin Association of Conservation Districts commences today at 8:00 a.m. at the Gilligan’s, Hyatt Regency Saipan with over 150 participants from all over the Pacific region.
\nThe theme for this year’s meet is “Collaborative Approaches to Meet Island Environmental Challenges in the New Millennium” which will feature mainland-based presentors and panelists from CNMI’s Department of Lands And Natural Resources, Department of Public Health, US Army Corps of Engineers, Northern Marianas College, and the Solid Waste Management Task Force.<\/p>\n
According to Marian Teregeyo, DLNR special assistant for correspondences, topics to be discussed include pressing island issues such as the Upland Mitigation Bank and the Polychlorinated Biphynils issue in Tanapag.<\/p>\n
