The Issue: Obvious inconsistency in national media coverage of Interior’s ruinous agenda of the CNMI.<\/p>\n
Our View: It’s a matter of principle and fairness to strike a balance in coverage to prevent biased portrayal of these isles.<\/p>\n
Since 1993, these isles were the subject of ruination and purposeful bias coverage of events in its apparel industry.<\/p>\n
Behind the scenes were evil geniuses and architects from the US Department of Interior’s OIA who have allegedly used taxpayers money on the job going after members of Congress who were sympathetic to the CNMI’s rights to self-government and rights to protect its economic freedom.<\/p>\n
Dedicated spinmasters (detractors) have used wit to associate all the dirt they have dug up with human rights issues. This slant almost always was bought by liberal dailies most of whom have never even bothered to verify their information. A reporter from a San Francisco newspaper even fabricated quotes from people he never interviewed for their sentiments.<\/p>\n
Interesting though that most of these news organizations hardly covered the recent Don Young hearings where it became awfully clear how OIA’s operatives have violated federal law governing political activities in public office. Interesting too that ABC’s 20\/20 was absent and awfully mute when revelations of abuses and violations of law at OIA filled the Don Young Committee Room.<\/p>\n
These biases confirm analysis in recent months why the reading American public no longer trusts the media or the fourth estate. About the only newspaper that was fair in its coverage and assessment of purposeful OIA agenda to ruin and compromise our political and economic freedoms was the Wall Street Journal (WSJ).<\/p>\n
We are ever so grateful of WSJ’s fairness on this matter though we can’t say the same of ABC’s less than 20\/20 vision nor liberal dailies who have fallen prey to sensationalism of issues however small as to blur our visions and hope for all that our country stands for, i.e., freedom and justice in the “pursuit of happiness” in this tiny American archipelago.
