A 21-year-old man pled not guilty yesterday to allegations that he assaulted a Saipan woman last Dec. 5, 2000.<\/p>\n
The Attorney General’s Office filed yesterday a criminal case against Joseph Castro Javier, detailing four counts of disturbing the peace, assault, assault and battery, and assault with a dangerous weapon.<\/p>\n
According to court documents, the defendant unlawfully and unwillfully committed acts that unreasonably annoyed and disturbed the victim so that she was deprived of her right to peace and quiet.<\/p>\n
The accused also attempted to force violence on the victim by unlawfully striking, beating and otherwise causing her bodily harm.<\/p>\n
Mr. Javier also faces charges of assault with a dangerous weapon as he allegedly threatened to cause, attempt to cause or purposely cause bodily harm to the victim by means of a green chain.<\/p>\n
During a bail hearing yesterday, the Superior Court set a $6,000-cash bail for Mr. Javier’s temporary release.<\/p>\n
The preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 13, 2000. Mr. Javier’s arraignment will follow on Jan. 8, 2001.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
