{"id":55606,"date":"2001-01-16T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2001-01-16T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/96a29e87-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2001-01-16T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2001-01-16T00:00:00","slug":"96a29e97-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/96a29e97-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Hydroponics workshop set"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Northern Marianas College Cooperative Research, Extension and Education Service (NMC-CREES), the Department of Lands and Natural Resources, and the Commonwealth Development Authority are sponsoring the first 2001 Hydroponics Workshop.<\/p>\n<p>Hydroponics is a form of agriculture that involves growing without the use of soil, or simply put, soil-less farming.<\/p>\n<p>The benefits of a hydroponics system are:  the ability to control the environment that plants are growing in; improved efficiency for higher yields; and it is an excellent method for the limited space farming conditions in the CNMI.<\/p>\n<p>A certified U.S. Hydroponics specialist will train the workshop participants in everything one needs to know about hydroponics.<\/p>\n<p>For example: 1) the basic principles of hydroponics and operation of a hydroponics system; 2) how to start up your own hydroponics system; 3) the general business opportunities involved using hydroponics; 4) the numerous benefits of hydroponics, and many more.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop is open to the general public and to anyone interested in starting a hydroponics business.  In order to have the workshop, there must be a minimum number of registered participants.  The workshop schedule will be determined in February.
