{"id":55855,"date":"2001-01-29T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2001-01-29T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/96ae5e62-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2001-01-29T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2001-01-29T00:00:00","slug":"96ae5e73-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/96ae5e73-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Tonga\u2019s PM announces cabinet changes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NUKU\u2018ALOFA, Tonga (PIR) &#8212; Tonga&#8217;s Prime Minister Prince \u2018Ulukalala Lavaka Ata has announced several changes to his Cabinet, including two new ministers and a governor.<\/p>\n<p>The Prime Minister has been given the new Communications portfolio in addition to Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries and Foreign Affairs and Defense and the new Civil Aviation Ministry.<\/p>\n<p>The Marine and Wharves portfolio has been moved to the Minister of Works, Cecil Cocker, who is also responsible for Environment.<\/p>\n<p>The new Minister of Education is Dr. T\u00fctoatasi Fakafanua, who has been transferred from Finance. He replaces Dr. Hu\u2018akavameiliku, who now will retire from government service.<\/p>\n<p>The Governor of the National Reserve Bank of Tonga, Siosiua \u2018Utoikamanu has become the new Minister of Finance, while the new Minister of Lands, Survey and Natural Resources is the Hon. Fielakepa, the Governor of the Ha\u2018apai Islands group.<\/p>\n<p>Portfolios not affected are those of the deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Tevita Tupou; Minister of Police Clive Edwards; Minister of Trade Dr. Masasso Paunga; Minister of Health Dr. Viliami Tangi and the Governor of Vava\u2018u, the Hon.
