Almost one hundred swimmers have pre-registered for the annual HSBC Saipan Ocean Swim that will take place in front of the Diamond Hotel beach on March 24.<\/p>\n
Pre-registration is mandatory since no entries will be accepted after 8am on Saturday when the first event will begin.<\/p>\n
There are four different courses available to swimmers depending upon their ages. Except for Masters, there will be a choice of a 1.3 km or a 2.5 km course. All courses will use the old World War II tanks sitting in the lagoon outside of the Saipan Diamond Hotel.<\/p>\n
Over thirty swimmers — youth and masters — have registered from Japan, and about the same from Guam. There is an awards presentation on the night of March 24.<\/p>\n
Organizers are looking forward to seeing all participants at the awards night to receive their awards — customized medals for 1st through 6th places in each age group except in the Masters 2.5 km course where only the top six will receive medals.<\/p>\n
The Saipan Swim Club acknowledges the support of HSBC sponsoring the 23rd running of the Saipan Ocean Swim. HSBC management will be present to assist in the awarding of the medals. Other sponsors include DPS\/Boating Safety and CRM which assisted in the safety of the event.<\/p>\n
The entry fee for the swim is $7 if paid before March 23, or $10 if paid before 8am on March 24. Special SOS t-shirts will be on sale for $12 each. The awards party, which will held at the lanai of the Saipan Diamond Hotel will cost $15 per person.<\/p>\n
