{"id":56947,"date":"2001-03-30T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2001-03-30T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/96e6fea6-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2001-03-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2001-03-30T00:00:00","slug":"96e6feb7-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/96e6feb7-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Poll body clears cloud on campaign finances"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Northern Mariana Islands Election Law, PL 12-18, established procedures for the reporting of political campaign contributions and expenditures, according to the Commonwealth Election Commission.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike in the previous election law, PL 12-18 is concise in the reporting requirements of receipts and disbursements of political campaign activities. PL 12-18 also provides that candidates and their campaign financial transactions are accurately reported.<\/p>\n<p>The Commonwealth Election Commission and the Office of the Public Auditor will conduct briefing sessions for all candidates and\/or their campaign committee treasurers on the campaign financial reporting requirements of Public Law 12-18.<\/p>\n<p>This is an important training for those individuals running for office in this year&#8217;s regular general election, said the poll body in a media statement.<\/p>\n<p>The session is scheduled for 7pm on May 8 at the Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe, Saipan. Sessions for Tinian and Rota will be scheduled shortly thereafter.<\/p>\n<p>All candidates and\/or their duly appointed treasurers are highly encouraged to participate in this training session.
