A 53-year-old man was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit ward at the local hospital, barely surviving from an auto-auto collision Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Police assessed the road accident as a combination of factors, one of them being driver error.<\/p>\n
The roadway and weather conditions at the scene of the accident also contributed to the mishap that day where two four-door Hyundai model vehicles crashed into each other, according to police.<\/p>\n
All occupants of both vehicles were injured when the pair of Hyundai Elantra and Accent cars collided against one another near Herman’s Bakery in Airport Road.<\/p>\n
The driver of the Elantra and his passenger sustained minor injuries while the single occupant of the Accent car ended up in ICU for severe injuries.<\/p>\n
Preliminary police reports reveal that it was the Accent operator that made the error which resulted in the crash.<\/p>\n
Department of Public Safety spokesperson Cecil Celes said yesterday the Accent car was traveling south on Airport Road when it started to slip and spin as it approached a sharp curve.<\/p>\n
The vehicle ended up encroaching on the northbound lane, hitting the Elantra which was treading on its own direction.<\/p>\n
All individuals involved in the crash were transported to the Commonwealth Health Center for treatment.<\/p>\n
Passengers of the Elantra complained of body pains and contusions. They were released immediately after treatment.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the 53-year-old driver was admitted to the ICU for serious injuries.<\/p>\n
Police said he suffered from fracture on the right rib and a collapsed lung.<\/p>\n
