Black, United Sates Attorney for the Districts of Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, yesterday announced that the US Government filed a one-count complaint charging three Japanese nationals with conspiracy to import methamphetamine or &#8220;ice.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Charged before the US court were Masakazu Imamura, Masanobu Miyamoto, and Takayuki Kaji due to alleged violation of violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 952, 960, and 963.<\/p>\n<p>Their initial appearance is scheduled today at 9:30am at the US District Court.<\/p>\n<p>Masakazu Imamura, Masanobu Miyamoto, and Takayuki Kaji are all Japanese nationals who arrived at the Saipan International Airport on April 24, 2001 on a flight from Kansai, Japan.<\/p>\n<p>Masanobu Miyamoto and Takayuki Kaji were detained at the airport after Customs officials discovered approximately 39 grams of ice hidden on Masanobu Miyamoto&#8217;s person and packing materials in Takayuki Kaji&#8217;s bag.<\/p>\n<p>Further investigation led to the arrest of Masakazu Imamura on April 25, 2001, pursuant to an Arrest Warrant signed by Judge Alex R. Munson.<\/p>\n<p>Assistant United States Attorney John J. Rice is prosecuting the case. The investigation is being conducted jointly by the CNMI Customs Enforcement Team and the CNMI\/DEA Task Force.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the public are reminded that the complaint is only an accusation.
