The Northern Mariana Islands Tennis Association (NMITA) announced the holding of a landmark event — the 20th annual DFS Micronesian Tennis championships. The tournament headquarters will be at Pacific Islands Club (PIC).<\/p>\n
Entry forms will be available at Las Vegas Discount Golf & Tennis and American Memorial Park. Players are reminded that entries for the adult doubles and junior singles are due by May 14 at 6:30pm and for the adult singles and junior doubles by May 20 at 3pm.<\/p>\n
The tournament will be held on May 18-20 with the following events will be held–mixed doubles, men’s and ladies’ doubles and junior singles.<\/p>\n
On May 26-28, the events will be men’s’ and ladies’ singles and junior doubles. The categories in the men’s’ singles and doubles are Open, 4.0, 3.0, and over 40. In the women’s singles and doubles, the categories are Open and 3.0. In the junior doubles, the boys and girls categories are 18 & Under and 12 & Under. The mixed doubles categories are Open and 3.0. In the junior singles, the boys and girls categories are 18 & Under, 14 & Under and 10 & Under.<\/p>\n
The tournament committee also announced that each participant will receive a t-shirt, a complimentary PIC waterpark pass and a complimentary ticket for the awards banquet, which will be held on May 28 at 6pm at the PIC adjacent to the Seaside Grill.<\/p>\n
The NMITA acknowledges the tournament sponsor, DFS Saipan, Ltd. This will be the 20th year that DFS Saipan has sponsored this event. Over the years, DFS has been a tremendous supporter of and sponsor for the CNMI’s premiere tennis event.<\/p>\n
The DFS Micronesian Tennis Championships will continue to be the premiere tennis tournament of the year in the Marianas. Fifteen participants from Guam have already signed up.<\/p>\n
