{"id":57536,"date":"2001-05-02T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2001-05-02T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/97447664-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2001-05-02T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2001-05-02T00:00:00","slug":"97447678-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/97447678-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Police Briefs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Man loses valuables to thieves<\/p>\n<p>Valuable pieces of jewelry were swiped from inside a Chalan Kanoa residence Monday by still unidentified suspects, police said.<\/p>\n<p>Eleven gold rings, necklaces, a gold bracelet, a wristwatch, a cigarette lighter, and a CD\/cassette player are reported missing from the house of Northern Marianas College Director for Center for Abilities Studies John Joyner.<\/p>\n<p>The burglary and theft incident is pending investigation at the Department of Public Safety.<\/p>\n<p>Beware of strangers<\/p>\n<p>A lady who refused to let a stranger use her telephone was allegedly attacked inside her very home Monday, police reported yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The 41-year-old Garapan resident told police she was not only assaulted but also robbed by the suspect and his companion.<\/p>\n<p>In a preliminary report, authorities said that when the woman wouldn&#8217;t let the man come into her house, he briefly went away only to come back with a lady companion.<\/p>\n<p>From there, the pair allegedly began physically attacking the victim. The suspects reportedly went away with woman&#8217;s $1,000-worth necklace, which was snatched right from her neck.<\/p>\n<p>The victim is said to be suffering from moderate injuries on her facial and body area.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the suspects face charges of assault and battery, aggravated assault and robbery, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>Men gang-up on roommate<\/p>\n<p>A disturbance at the UIC garment factory employees&#8217; sleeping quarters early yesterday morning led to the arrest of two roommates, who are charged on allegations of disturbing the peace and assault and battery.<\/p>\n<p>Police arrested 34-year-old Huaqin Bi and 35-year-old Peng Tinci. The UIC employees are accused of physically beating up another roommate.<\/p>\n<p>Police records reveal that the victim, a 21-year-old UIC employee, was sleeping inside a room the three were supposed to share when an argument between the three broke.<\/p>\n<p>The victim was apparently complaining about the noise the two men were generating at such an ungodly hour.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Bi and Tinci reportedly had female guests inside the bedroom despite a company policy that forbids the entry of women inside the sleeping quarters.<\/p>\n<p>According to police, the victim had asked his two roommates to take their conversation outside.<\/p>\n<p>But the suspects apparently did not appreciate the warning and allegedly started beating the victim up.<\/p>\n<p>Police said the 21-year-old was kicked several times on the body area.<\/p>\n<p>The two were arrested for disturbing the peace and assault and battery.
