{"id":63325,"date":"2002-04-16T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2002-04-16T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/98a4f96c-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2002-04-16T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2002-04-16T00:00:00","slug":"98a4f97f-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/98a4f97f-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Tudela vows a cleaner Saipan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Men and women in green t-shirts carrying trash bags, bush cutters, chainsaws, and rakes from the Saipan Mayor&#8217;s Office trooped to Beach Road in Garapan for a cleanup program Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The cleanup was supposed to be an all-day event but with overcast clouds and heavy rainfall late morning, the Mayor&#8217;s island beautification work had to be called off for the rest of the day.<\/p>\n<p>In line with his administration&#8217;s commitment to beautify the entire island, Saipan Mayor Juan B. Tudela hopes to make the cleanup program a regular weekend event.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A lot of work is needed to beautify our island but I will do it,&#8221; said Tudela.<\/p>\n<p>In his first three months in office, Tudela&#8217;s work crews can be seen picking up trash, cutting over-hanging tree branches and trimming overgrown weeds along the secondary roads.<\/p>\n<p>The most recent beautification project done was at the Mt. Tapochao, which coincided with the observance of the Holy Week. <\/p>\n<p>Last week, Tudela\u2019s staff worked along Beach Road in the intersection of the Mobil gas station in Oleai all the way to the village&#8217;s elementary school.
