Juan Nekkai Babauta is really going all-out in his support of the Commonwealth\u2019s participation in the 2002 Micronesian Games scheduled from July 21 to August 1, 2002 in Pohnpei.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter addressed to all department and activity heads of the Executive Branch last week, Babauta urged them to grant administrative leave of absences for athletes, coaches and officials going to the biennial meet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI strongly urge that all those in the Executive Branch having approval\/disapproval authority favorably consider granting administrative [leave of absences to concerned athletes]. <\/p>\n<p>Citing that Department and Activity Heads have the authority to grant or deny Administrative Leave, based on an employee\u2019s past performance and attendance, Babauta nevertheless asked them to award the favor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI consider our participation in the Micronesian Games very worthwhile and wholeheartedly support our athletes, many of whom have made sacrifices in preparing themselves to represent the CNMI,\u201d the Governor said.<\/p>\n<p>The CNMI\u2019s top executive also extended the same message to officers not under the Executive Branch. \u201cI also hope that those outside the Executive Branch having similar authority would do likewise.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The regional games in Pohnpei will see the CNMI participating in wide-ranging sports events from athletics, baseball, basketball, outrigger canoe racing, softball, swimming, tennis, volleyball, wrestling, weightlifting, spear fishing and Micronesian All-Around.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gov.
