{"id":7543,"date":"2011-12-06T07:50:43","date_gmt":"2011-12-06T07:50:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newspaper.ctsi-logistics.com\/?p=7543"},"modified":"2011-12-06T07:50:43","modified_gmt":"2011-12-06T07:50:43","slug":"man-lands-in-jail-for-fight-over-newspaper","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/man-lands-in-jail-for-fight-over-newspaper\/","title":{"rendered":"Man lands in jail for fight over newspaper"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>By Ferdie de la Torre<br \/>\nReporter<\/div>\n<p>A fight over a newspaper put a 40-year-old man in jail for beating a man in San Antonio on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Yubo Qiu, 40, was arrested on charges of assault, assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, and disturbing the peace.<\/p>\n<p>A $6,250 cash bail was initially imposed for Qiu&#8217;s temporary liberty. He was taken to the Superior Court yesterday afternoon for a bail hearing.<\/p>\n<p>Detective Catherine B. Pangelinan stated in her report that investigation showed that the victim, Guoxi Liang, bought a Chinese newspaper from a store.<\/p>\n<p>As Liang was sitting by the windows of a building and reading the newspaper, Qiu approached and suddenly grabbed the newspaper away.<\/p>\n<p>Liang confronted Qiu for what he did. But Qiu instead punched him on the head.<\/p>\n<p>Qiu also throw a rock at Liang, but missed. The suspect picked up a 2X2 piece of lumber and swung at Liang, but missed again.<\/p>\n<p>Qiu threatened the victim that he would kill him if he was going to call the police.
