{"id":81007,"date":"2004-05-13T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2004-05-13T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/9f4cbcff-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2004-05-13T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2004-05-13T00:00:00","slug":"9f4cbd10-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/9f4cbd10-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"EMO: No terror threat vs CNMI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Emergency Management Office assured the Northern Marianas yesterday that there is no imminent terror threat to the Commonwealth and security remains tight at all ports of entry.<\/p>\n<p>EMO director Rodolfo Pua disclosed yesterday that a planned CNMI-wide anti-terror exercise and seminars are only meant to ensure that guidelines are in place and to establish some procedures that first responders should follow.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not to cause panic. There is no reason to be alarmed. This is just a training to ensure that the guidelines are in place\u2026 There is no threat but we need to establish this procedure,\u201d said Pua.<\/p>\n<p>The two anti-terror trainings set to happen this year\u2014one on Saipan and one on Rota and Tinian separately\u2014are designed to establish guidelines on how to respond to weapons of mass destruction.<\/p>\n<p>The Saipan seminar, which will be staged at the Saipan Harbor on May 26 under the CNMI Homeland Security program through EMO, is a full-scale response exercise.<\/p>\n<p>The EMO is coordinating with the EG&#038;G Technical Services to effectively carry out the exercise. Dubbed as \u201cOperation Safe Harbor,\u201d the exercise will test the real-time response of the participating departments, agencies, and organizations of the CNMI and its federal partners.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe goals of \u2018Operation Safe Harbor\u2019 are to validate the CNMI Emergency Operations Plan, Terrorism Response Annex, and Hazardous Material procedures.
