A former medical director of the CNMI\u2019s Department of Public Health has been appointed to a ranking position at the Kentucky-based PediaMed Pharmaceuticals Inc.<\/p>\n
The pharmaceutical company, which specializes in the health and well being of children, announced yesterday in a statement the appointment of Jon B. Bruss, MD, MSPH, FAAP, as its vice president, clinical\/medical\/regulatory and chief medical officer.<\/p>\n
The statement said that Bruss joins PediaMed from Alarus Development International, a consulting firm specializing in infectious disease and pediatric drug development, where he was president and founder. <\/p>\n
Before Alarus, Bruss served as clinical program director of Infectious Disease Clinical Research for Pfizer\/Pharmacia, where he gained experience in study team management for global protocols, phase I-IIIb development, and defense before the U.S. FDA Advisory Committee. There, he led a team that was successful in getting Zyvox(R) approved for children and worked to form the first company-wide Pediatric Advisory Committee at Pharmacia.<\/p>\n
“Dr. Bruss has a proven track record of bringing drugs through development, including pediatrics. In his new role, Jon will be able to apply this expertise to PediaMed, helping us further develop our pipeline,” said Dr. Cameron Durrant, PediaMed Pharmaceuticals president.<\/p>\n
He has extensive international experience, including the building of the Shanghai Children’s Medical Center where he first served as the senior medical educator. Later, he worked as medical director of Public Health here on Saipan, where he managed a large public health program, including maternal and child health and children’s immunization programs. <\/p>\n
Among his accomplishments, Bruss has held academic appointments at Harvard Medical School and the University of Washington.<\/p>\n
Bruss completed medical training at the University of New Mexico, School of Medicine; obtained a public health degree from Tulane University, School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine; and will receive his MBA from Kellogg School of Business Management at Northwestern University in June. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
