{"id":81207,"date":"2004-05-20T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2004-05-20T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/9f71845b-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2004-05-20T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2004-05-20T00:00:00","slug":"9f718471-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/9f718471-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"CUC asked to pay for leased vehicles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. has not paid a local dealer for leased vehicles despite the board\u2019s order to go ahead with the payment since March this year.<\/p>\n<p>In a May 10, 2004 letter to the CUC board, Midpac general manager Gene Weaver complained that \u201cthis issue has been dragged on too long.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cAs of date, final payment for the leased vehicles has yet to be received. While in attendance at one of the board meetings, I had voiced my concern regarding this matter. I attended the meeting because it was published in the newspaper that the CUC has agreed to purchase the vehicles,\u201d said Weaver. <\/p>\n<p>Last month, Weaver told the board that he only learned about the CUC\u2019s decision to purchase from news reports.<\/p>\n<p>He said his office had never received any formal communication from the CUC management on the issue.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, he had said that his office repeatedly called the CUC on the issue but it failed to respond accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>Weaver said the CUC\u2019s action on the matter is most needed \u201cto close our books.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would like to close our books on the leased vehicles and put this behind us and move forward,\u201d said Weaver.<\/p>\n<p>In a special meeting in March, the CUC board approved the management\u2019s request to approve the purchase of heavy equipment, which included about seven vehicles that have been leased by Midpac to CUC for five years.<\/p>\n<p>The lease contracts for the vehicles had reportedly expired.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are still in good condition,\u201d reported CUC executive director Lorraine A.
