{"id":81704,"date":"2004-06-08T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2004-06-08T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/9fb50ab7-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2004-06-08T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2004-06-08T00:00:00","slug":"9fb50acb-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/9fb50acb-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Law firm sues former client over unpaid fees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A law firm yesterday sued its former client in a federal civil action over unpaid service fees amounting to over $77,000.<\/p>\n<p>The O\u2019Connor Berman Dotts &#038; Banes filed with the Superior Court a suit against Mariana Fashions Inc., asking the court to award it monetary damages of at least $77,082.07 plus interests.<\/p>\n<p>The law firm represented Mariana Fashions when the latter was sued by the U.S. Department of Labor in federal court.<\/p>\n<p>Lawyer Robert O\u2019Connor said that Mariana Fashions agreed to pay the law firm attorney\u2019s fees and costs incidental to its legal representation of the company in the federal case.<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Connor claimed that his law firm worked diligently on the case, expending \u201cconsiderable time, work and energy\u201d in representing Mariana Fashions.<\/p>\n<p>He accused Mariana Fashions of breaching a binding contract with the law firm when the latter failed to pay attorney\u2019s fees despite soliciting legal services.
