Island environmental officials will hold a free workshop on June 21 to teach people how to design effective environmental awareness campaigns in the Pacific.<\/p>\n
The workshop, to be held from 8am to 5pm, will be conducted at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency\u2019s 23rd Pacific Islands Environmental Conference at the Dai-Ichi Hotel on Saipan.<\/p>\n
The Micronesia Regional Environmental Education Network is co-sponsoring the free workshop, which will be held by Michael Mann of the Guam EPA and Grace O. Garces of the University of Guam.<\/p>\n
The workshop will provide training on environmental issue outreach in the following areas:<\/p>\n
* Media relations<\/p>\n
* Community outreach<\/p>\n
* Methods for setting up a formal structure for environmental education in schools<\/p>\n
* Basic environmental issues<\/p>\n
* Technology as a daily tool at work<\/p>\n
* The basics of social marketing<\/p>\n
Free continuing education units are available through the University of Guam for participants pre-registering for the workshop.<\/p>\n
