Some 30 delegates to the Pacific Asia Travel Association\u2019s Micronesia Chapter would attend the group\u2019s fourth quarter meeting at the Saipan World Resort beginning today, where they would discuss marketing strategies to boost the region as a tourist hub.<\/p>\n
At least 22 off-island members from different parts of Micronesia would attend the meeting, Marianas Visitors Authority marketing specialist Glenda Calvo said yesterday.<\/p>\n
PATA\u2019s marketing and education committees will separately convene at World Resort\u2019s Hibiscus function halls in the morning, while the partnership committee will meet at the MVA\u2019s conference room.<\/p>\n
PATA members would also attend a workshop entitled \u201cBuilding an Effective News and Media Strategy\u201d at the hotel from 2pm to 5pm. Pacific Daily News executive editor Rindraty Celes Limtiaco would reportedly present the workshop.<\/p>\n
At the same time, however, PATA\u2019s executive committee members would meet at the MVA\u2019s conference room, the MVA said.<\/p>\n
By Friday, the PATA would hold its general assembly meeting at the hotel, with congressman Ray N. Yumul, the chairman of the House Committee on Tourism and Commerce, as guest speaker.<\/p>\n
The MVA will host a farewell dinner for PATA\u2019s members on Friday at the Pacific Island Club\u2019s Seaside Grill. The MVA also encouraged PATA members to attend the 6th Annual Taste of the Marianas on Saturday at the American Memorial Park.<\/p>\n
The PATA is considered as one of the biggest travel and tourism associations in the world. MVA chairman David Sablan has assumed a board seat with the PATA.<\/p>\n
The association has been involved in studying travel trends around the globe. Some months ago, PATA underscored the potential of China as a tourism market, saying that Chinese travel spending is anticipated to reach $100 billion by 2008.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
