The flight departed from Portland International Airport (PDX) at 1:50 p.m. PDT.<\/p>\n<p>From Northwest&#8217;s Tokyo hub, Portland-area travelers will be able to make single connections to the airline&#8217;s Asia\/Pacific network which includes Bangkok, Thailand; Beijing; Busan, South Korea; Guam; Hong Kong; Manila, Philippines; Nagoya, Japan; Saipan, Mariana Islands; Seoul, South Korea; Shanghai, China; Singapore and Taipei, Taiwan.<\/p>\n<p>Flight 5 departed from gate D15 at Portland International Airport at 1:50 p.m. PDT and arrived at Tokyo&#8217;s Narita Airport on Friday, June 11 at 4:15 p.m. From push back in Portland to arrival at the gate in Tokyo, the trip lasted 10 hours and 25 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Northwest&#8217;s DC10-30 aircraft was flown by a flight crew of three pilots. Passengers in the 26-seat World Business Class cabin and 243-seat coach cabin were served by a crew of eight flight attendants. In addition, an in-flight service representative that is fluent in both Japanese and English was onboard the flight to assist Japanese-speaking customers.<\/p>\n<p>Flight 6 marked its Tokyo-Portland nonstop debut also on Friday, June 11 when it departed Tokyo at 3:10 p.m. and arrives in Portland at 8:15 a.m. PDT the same day.<\/p>\n<p>The new service makes Portland the airline&#8217;s eighth U.S.-Tokyo gateway, more than what&#8217;s offered by any other airline, as well as the first new Tokyo gateway that the airline has launched in almost five years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Northwest Airlines announced that its daily nonstop flight between Portland, Ore. and Tokyo debuted June 10.
