{"id":81984,"date":"2004-06-18T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2004-06-18T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/9fc94788-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2004-06-18T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2004-06-18T00:00:00","slug":"9fc9479b-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/9fc9479b-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"UFO: 13th team joins in 11th hour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With just four days to go before the opening, McDonald\u2019s MAFILWA became the 13th and last team to be admitted in the fifth season of the United Filipino Organization Basketball League.<\/p>\n<p>League PRO Ruby Pamintuan reported yesterday that the board of directors gave a go signal to the team\u2019s inclusion and will join the 12 other teams that previously signed up for the cagefest.<\/p>\n<p>Pamintuan also reported that two other teams changed their names for the upcoming season. Because of undeclared reasons, Power has changed its name to SMF, while Mover will be called Mobil.<\/p>\n<p>The other 10 teams playing in the tournament are defending champion Visminda, last year\u2019s runner-up Cabalen, three-time champion SIP, LIPS, Laguna, Bicol, MDX, Cavite, Bayani, and Bartenders Association.<\/p>\n<p>In related news, the scheduled final meeting of the league will push through tomorrow, June 19, 6:30pm at the Philippine Overseas Labor Office on the first floor of the Nauru Building in Susupe.<\/p>\n<p>The agenda of the meeting will include final preparations for the kick off, which would include formalizing the criteria for the Best Muse and Best Uniform awards. Payment of entry fees, submission of team rosters, and waiver forms are also due that day.<\/p>\n<p>The 2004 season of the United Filipino Organizations Basketball League is scheduled to kick off at 2pm on June 20 at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.<\/p>\n<p>Participating teams, however, must come to the venue a half hour before the opening at 1:30pm. <\/p>\n<p>The UFO basketball League will be played every Saturday and Sunday.
