Get your running shoes cleaned up and ready to go because the Silver Streak is back tomorrow morning, as the 11th Annual Tom Picarro Memorial Fun Run will be held 6am.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a five o\u2019clock show and a six o\u2019clock go,\u201d said event coordinator Wolf Mojica.<\/p>\n
The run is in memory of the former president of DFS Saipan and avid runner, P. Thomas Picarro, and his wife Clara has flown in from New York to be present for the event. She will be on hand to pass out the awards to the top finishers.<\/p>\n
Beginning at the DFS Garapan Galleria, runners will travel south to Quartermaster Road, and then back to the Galleria. The 4.2-mile fun run follows one of the favorite practice courses of the silver-haired man that used to wave at everyone as they drove by. <\/p>\n
There will be a $5 registration fee, and all of the proceeds will be given to a local charity. There will be several age divisions and prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place as well as first place over all men and woman. T-shirts will be given to the first 175 finishers, and chances are that you will be one of them if you enter.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re expecting at least 150 entrants, but we may have more,\u201d Mojica said. <\/p>\n
Race check in will be at 5am at the taxi entrance of the Galleria. Registration forms can be picked up at DFS Saipan Limited head office on the second floor of the Galleria between the hours of 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday, in the boutique offices from 9am to 9pm, daily, or at the Gilbert C.
