{"id":82572,"date":"2004-07-13T05:55:00","date_gmt":"2004-07-13T05:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/9fe28066-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2004-07-13T05:55:00","modified_gmt":"2004-07-13T05:55:00","slug":"9fe2807d-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/9fe2807d-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Moses-Arnold, Sequioco top Round Two pool"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Top lady player Rosemarie Moses-Arnold and veteran cue artist Boyet Sequioco ruled the green felt table last week at Round Two Bar and Grill in Garapan.<\/p>\n<p>Moses-Arnold was simply unbeatable in the pioneering sports bar\u2019s 4th of July celebrations two Sundays ago.<\/p>\n<p>After getting a bye in the first round, Moses-Arnold went to work against Simon Kapileo and advanced to meet Charlie Peter. <\/p>\n<p>She beat the burly basketball center and squared off against Nathan Peter for the twice-to-beat advantage in the championship round.<\/p>\n<p>Moses-Arnold relegated Nathan to losers bracket play and then met up with him again in the championship when Nathan hurdled Charlie in the semis.<\/p>\n<p>The rematch went like their first match with Moses-Arnold winning the game and lining her pockets with the $40 winner-take-all prize.<\/p>\n<p>Nathan and Charlie had only bragging rights to show for their runner-up and third place finishes.<\/p>\n<p>Other pool players that participated in the Liberation Day competition were Donald Kapileo, Jean Navarro, and Mike Cohen.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, Sequioco reclaimed the Miller Lite Invitational 8-Ball Tournament after losing it to Jon Morris a week ago.<\/p>\n<p>But unlike Moses-Arnold on Sunday, the Olangapo City, Philippines native had to rise from the ashes to win the championship.<\/p>\n<p>Sequioco got his customary bye in the opening round before outplaying a player named simply as JR in his second trip.<\/p>\n<p>Owen Rumley then ended Sequioco\u2019s dreams of an undefeated run when Rumley upset the crafty veteran in the third round.<\/p>\n<p>Sequioco went back to the drawing board in losers bracket. With his back against the wall he dropped Sunday\u2019s deposed champ Bert Mettao before advancing to the semis with a win over Larry Guerrero.<\/p>\n<p>Paired opposite Richard Celestino for the right to face Rumley in the finals, Sequioco brought out his \u201cA\u201d game and set up a rematch with the winners bracket topnotcher for all the night\u2019s marbles.<\/p>\n<p>Sequioco proved wiser in his second game against Rumley as he won the first game and the rubber match to hoist the evening\u2019s championship. He took home $70 for the win, while Rumley and Celestino settled for the $40 and $25 runner-up prizes.<\/p>\n<p>Tony Martinez, Kippy Aiken, and John Salas also saw action in the Thursday night 8-ball event.<\/p>\n<p>Sequioco won two consecutive Thursday night 8-ball tournaments before Morris snapped his streak last July 1.<\/p>\n<p>Round Two hosts three regular tournaments a week. The Sunday Winner-Take-All Fun Tournament starts at 1pm and entry costs is $5 per player. Depending on the number of lady participants, the competition switches from regular to an 8-ball handicap format. <\/p>\n<p>The Tuesday Ladies Handicap 8-Ball Tournament is held every Tuesday starting at 8pm and has an entry fee of $10. <\/p>\n<p>On Thursdays, Round Two holds the exciting Miller Lite Invitational 8-Ball Tournament starting at 8pm.
