The Coastal Resources Management has approved the construction of a warehouse in Obyan, but stressed the need for erosion control and a permanent storm water drainage system at the project site.<\/p>\n
The CRM permit was given to Hawaiian Rock Products, Inc. to build a 1,500-sq. ft., single story warehouse at Obyan area.<\/p>\n
The regulatory agency, however, issued specific conditions along with the approval, after finding that the project \u201chas a potential for impacting the surrounding areas in terms of erosion.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe temporary erosion control measure, and the permanent storm water drainage system identified in the plans submitted, shall be constructed as part of the scope of the permit,\u201d CRM director Joaquin Salas said.<\/p>\n
According to the permit, Hawaiian Rock Products should apply for an earthmoving and erosion control permit at least 60 days before the scheduled start of construction activities.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe granting of this permit does not constitute a commitment by the CNMI government\u2014either express or implied\u2014to provide sufficient water, power, road or sewer services,\u201d Salas said.<\/p>\n
Depending on its assessment, the government may also charge impact fees in the future for the project, he added.<\/p>\n
Further, dust control measures should be implemented at all times during the construction period, including non-working hours, weekends or holidays. Haul roads, adjacent properties and other areas disturbed by the building activities should be sprinkled or treated with dust suppressants as often as necessary.<\/p>\n
Construction activities for the warehouse project are limited to the period between 7am and 6pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
