The largest English conversational school in Nagoya Japan\u2014the Peppy Kids Club\u2014arrived on Saipan on July 20, bringing over 77 Japanese children for the 5th Annual Cultural Exchange Program.<\/p>\n
Peppy Kids Club Manager Mitsunori Yamazaki, who has been with the club for over two years, coordinated the activities for the children with Gordon Marciano, president of the Chamolinian Cultural Village, so the children could participate in the 2nd annual Summer Festival.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey [Peppy Kids] come to Saipan every year, but this year is their first time at the Chamolinian village,\u201d said Pacific Development Inc. staff Akiko Hagiwara. <\/p>\n
The club consists of over 80,000 children with ages 12-15 currently attending more than 1,000 English classrooms across Japan.<\/p>\n
A total of 260 Japanese children, parents and teachers will be on Saipan for four days participating in cultural activities with local children. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe have 20 local kids from as far as Kagman to Kobler,\u201d said Marciano. <\/p>\n
Activities include making bead accessories, mwar mwar making, coconut oil making, and banana painting. The children also participated in the planting of coconut trees along the beach area of the Chamolinian village in Garapan. <\/p>\n
Before this, the children took up English lessons, conducted by club mates of the Pacific Islands Club and teachers from the Peppy Kids club, at PIC\u2019s Charlie\u2019s Cabaret. <\/p>\n
According to Hagiwara, the children will be taking up lessons at the Chamolinian village and shopping around the Garapan area during their visit on Saipan. <\/p>\n
\u201cThere [are] two groups. The kids [will be] at Chamolinian Village from 9am to 1pm. The others [will be] shopping in Garapan from 1:30pm to 5pm,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
The first group arrived on Tuesday and is scheduled to leave on Friday, while the second group arrived on Wednesday and will be leaving on Saturday. The last group is scheduled to be on island on Aug. 24-27. (Cassie DLG Fejeran)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
