Freedom Run attracted an estimated 150 people to the Beach Road pathway early Saturday morning in an event organized by the Liberation Committee. <\/p>\n
Participants were bright and early as they took the route from Oleai Pavilion pathway to the 13 Fishermen Monument and back.<\/p>\n
Radio stations Power 99 and the Rock 97.9 were on hand to support the runners. \u201cOur station was there to give them [participants] support. We are very happy with the turnout and the sponsors were, too,\u201d said Tina Palacios from Power 99.<\/p>\n
The event was supposed to take place July 4 but was postponed due to the typhoon, which left the committee with two weeks of planning.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were happy with the turnout. We thought that the people would not join because it was postponed,\u201d Tina added. <\/p>\n
A total of 400 t-shirts and 200 umbrellas were given away to the participants. Refreshments were also given to the runners at the finish point.<\/p>\n
According to Victor Cepeda, chairperson for the Liberation Committee and staff of the Saipan Mayor\u2019s Office, another Freedom Run event is being organized. <\/p>\n
