{"id":82982,"date":"2004-07-31T05:09:00","date_gmt":"2004-07-31T05:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/a03696fd-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2004-07-31T05:09:00","modified_gmt":"2004-07-31T05:09:00","slug":"a036970e-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/a036970e-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Another exchange group visits Saipan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Sanpoen Japanese exchange students arrived on Saipan Thursday evening marking their 26th visit on the island.  <\/p>\n<p>The 22 Japanese students, 11-18 years of age, along with nine chaperons will be on island for a week, performing to several activities such as water sports, sight seeing, and shopping.<\/p>\n<p>On the day of their arrival the Japanese students visited the Governor\u2019s Office, and was welcomed on island during their visit to the Mayor\u2019s Office.  <\/p>\n<p>Leading the group is High Priest Kansho Kayaki and his brother Susumu Kayaki, Budist Priest. <\/p>\n<p>High Priest Kayaki led the prayers for the 320 hand-made lanterns before they floated it out to sea. <\/p>\n<p>Similar to the Japanese KSKK exchange group, the Sanpoen group will be sponsored by local families on island.  <\/p>\n<p>Jesse Palacios is sponsoring two Japanese children in the program. \u201cThis is my first time. We might do some more sight seeing, maybe go and barbeque at the beach,\u201d he said.  <\/p>\n<p>The children in Saipan will also be able to participate in a similar program in Japan this coming February.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery year in July the group arrives on Saipan, and every February we go there,\u201d said Tudela.<\/p>\n<p>In Japan, they will perform to similar activities such as sightseeing and shopping. Several Japanese host families will sponsor the local children in the program.  <\/p>\n<p>Tudela is encouraging parents to put their child in the program. The program promotes goodwill and lasting friendship between the children of Japan and Saipan.
