The winner of the \u201cName The Mall and Design-a-Logo\u201d contest will be known next week, press secretary Peter Callaghan said yesterday.<\/p>\n
He said that a five-member panel of judges is expected to meet this week and submit its decision shortly.<\/p>\n
The announcement would be made by Gov. Juan N. Babauta probably next week on Tuesday, he said.<\/p>\n
Based on the procedure, the judges, who come from the Marianas Visitors Authority, the Japan-Saipan Travel Association, the Hotel Association of Northern Mariana Islands, Saipan Chamber of Commerce, and the Saipan Economic Development Council \u2013 will first choose their top 10 entries.<\/p>\n
From the shortlist will be chosen the top five, and from there, the top one choice.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo make it (to the top choices), the entry has to appear in every judge\u2019s list,\u201d said Callaghan.<\/p>\n
He said the community\u2019s interest on the contest \u201chas been overwhelming.\u201d <\/p>\n
The contest, which allows people to submit their choice of name and logo design for the newly constructed Garapan Park, began last July 2.<\/p>\n
Callaghan said the Office of the Governor received over 100 entries.<\/p>\n
The deadline for the submission of entries closed Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n
The contest winner will receive $1,000 and \u201cbragging rights for generations,\u201d said Callaghan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
