Challenging times are ahead for Aqua Resort Club\u2019s new food and beverage manager, with the hotel undergoing a management transition and planning a huge renovation project.<\/p>\n
Ramoncito Cabrera joined Aqua Resort in July 2004. He replaced former F&B manager Pol Urcia, who has gone back to his home in the Philippines to manage his business. Cabrera, however, is not new to the island, having worked as assistant F&B manager with the Hyatt Regency Saipan from September 1988 to August 1993.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m really excited about coming back, and joining a very good team at Aqua Resort. Here, I work with hard-working people who make my job a lot easier. I also like the management\u2019s open-door policy toward the staff. We\u2019re like a small family,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think this is a very good time to join Aqua Resort because the next six months are going to be challenging, with all the renovation work that we\u2019re planning to do,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The planned construction work comes on the heels of Aqua Resort Club\u2019s acquisition by Ken Corp. of Tokyo.<\/p>\n
Cabrera said he is also looking forward to becoming a part again of the Saipan community. \u201cPol [Urcia] definitely left big shoes to fill in terms of the relationship he built with the community, but I\u2019m working on it.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Saipan Rotary Club had him as a guest speaker during the group\u2019s weekly meeting at the Hyatt on Tuesday noon.<\/p>\n
Cabrera served for eight years as resident manager of the Manila Southwoods Golf & Country Club in Cavite, the Philippines, before he joined Aqua Resort. Before that, he managed a 96-room resort and beach hotel, also in Cavite, for two years.<\/p>\n
He also acquired over 10 years of hotel and restaurant management experience at the Hyatt, including the five years he has worked on Saipan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
