Wearing his Tartan kilt, complete with McDougal heritage and glowing with his bright blonde hair, there was a little confusion as to what he was doing here as he passed through customs amongst the locals and tourists.

When asked why he chose to make the trip from Scotland to enter this annual tournament, Mc Dougal responded, “Well, we have a similar type of tournament back in Inverness hosted by me local pub, The Elephant and Wheelbarrow. So I’m certain that I’ll have a mental edge over the local folk.”

McDougal began his golfing career when he triumphed over fellow Scotsman Colin Montgomerie at the Aberdeen Championships in the 8yrs. old and under division. Since then, McDougal has been the pride of Inverness Golf.

“When the Hyatt asked me to come out, I had to ask them what prizes they had. I heard that you could win a car or $10,000 if you sink a hole in one, and I’m sure I can do that. I also heard you can win free hotel stays and flights to Guam, Rota, and other places as well, and I just couldn’t go and pass up that, now could I lad?”

McDougal has been spotted practicing around island, at the beaches of Saipan, and at the Kingfisher Golf Links, where the event is to be held. Although he comes from a place that is considerably colder than the Northern Marianas, McDougal seems to be no stranger to sunshine and hopes top take advantage of the clear skies before he tee’s it up for the tournament.

“Well as you can see, I have a great suntan. We have the best solarium in the world in Inverness, but I’ll be looking for some natural sunshine.”

McDougal has already made an appearance on local television, is scheduled to be on radio, and is currently staying at the Hyatt Regency Saipan where he is available for autograph signing at anytime.

He is encouraging everyone to join in the event with him. “I’m sure that this is going to be a whole load of fun. The Hyatt informed me that it’s a fundraiser, so I’ve put my 3 pounds in. But most importantly, there is supposed to be a fantastic dinner banquet. If you think I can play golf well, wait until you look at me dinner plate.”

The Club at the Hyatt Golf Classic will be held on Saturday September 25th at Kingfisher Golf Links. Registration forms can be found at the Hyatt Front Desk or at Club Elan.
