{"id":83895,"date":"2004-09-09T06:12:00","date_gmt":"2004-09-09T06:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/a08ca7c6-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2004-09-09T06:12:00","modified_gmt":"2004-09-09T06:12:00","slug":"a08ca7d6-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/a08ca7d6-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Pacific Trading loses $36K in burglary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Authorities are currently investigating a burglary and theft incident that resulted in the Pacific Trading Co. losing thousands of dollars in cash and checks. <\/p>\n<p>PTC later revealed that the suspect(s) managed to get away with approximately $36,000 due to the incident.<\/p>\n<p>According to NMI Crime Stoppers, patrol officers were dispatched to the establishment early Monday morning after receiving a report that it had been burglarized. The report was placed at about 6:58am.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe operational manager of [PTC] called [the Department of Public Safety] and reported a burglary and theft incident. Patrol officers arrived at the scene and later learned that the office assigned to the general manager was burglarized,\u201d said Crime Stoppers detective Eric David.<\/p>\n<p>Police have yet to identified how many suspects were involved in the incident.<\/p>\n<p>David indicated that investigation conducted by the responding officers revealed that the suspect(s) entered the establishment through the rooftop by cutting the roof open. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey [suspects] made their way to the general manager\u2019s office from the ceiling, passing through the alarm systems,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>David said the suspect(s) then broke into the safe room and managed to gain entry to one of the safes. <\/p>\n<p>The incident has been tagged as the Crime Stoppers\u2019 Crime of the Week for Sept. 6-10.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with information about the crime, or any other crime, is urged to call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 234-7272, or the Criminal Investigation Bureau TASC office at 664-9045\/42. <\/p>\n<p>The NMI Crime Stoppers, which was established in 1989, has been helping the police department solve cases through unique information-gathering techniques that reward tipsters. The past year has been a banner year for the NMI Crime Stoppers.<\/p>\n<p>It received tips through its hotline, which led to arrests for crimes ranging from burglary to robbery, and even murder. <\/p>\n<p>As of March of this year, the NMI Crime Stoppers cleared a total of 196 cases and made a total of 159 arrests. The group also paid out over $8,300 in cash rewards and recovered some $197,793 in stolen properties. Through its efforts, the anti-crime group also helped in the recovery of $2.4 million worth of narcotics.<\/p>\n<p>Crime Stoppers pays up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
