{"id":83934,"date":"2004-09-11T02:55:00","date_gmt":"2004-09-11T02:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/a08cd9df-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2004-09-11T02:55:00","modified_gmt":"2004-09-11T02:55:00","slug":"a08cd9f0-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/a08cd9f0-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"CUC prepares for retiring personnel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At least five Commonwealth Utilities Corp. employees, including a division manager, will be retiring from government by the end of this year.<\/p>\n<p>CUC executive director Lorraine Babauta announced that engineer Ed Babauta, manager of the wastewater division will leave next Friday. Two other personnel from the same division, and two more from the water division have also turned in their retirement notices.<\/p>\n<p>Another CUC employee from the power division also retired earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>She said more public sector employees who have worked in government for a number of years are expected to quit next year, to avoid losing some of their retirement benefits.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Babauta said the retiring personnel are a great loss to CUC, as they have been with the corporation for many years and are very knowledgeable of its operations.<\/p>\n<p>She maintained that Ed Babauta, for instance, has inspected every hotel or garment factory on Saipan, and led CUC in the construction of a new Kagman facility, as well as various collection and pump stations from the Saipan airport area through Koblerville and San Vicente.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, Mrs. Babauta maintained that the retirements would not impact CUC\u2019s operations that much.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have very capable people who can take over the jobs of those who are leaving.
