{"id":8443,"date":"2011-12-09T06:50:38","date_gmt":"2011-12-09T06:50:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newspaper.ctsi-logistics.com\/?p=8443"},"modified":"2011-12-09T06:50:38","modified_gmt":"2011-12-09T06:50:38","slug":"rotary-welcomes-visitors-from-rotary-japan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/rotary-welcomes-visitors-from-rotary-japan\/","title":{"rendered":"Rotary welcomes visitors from Rotary Japan"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>By Clarissa David<br \/>\nReporter<\/div>\n<p>Top officials of the Rotary International District 2750 for 2011-2012 were on island Wednesday as part of a Pacific-wide visit to various Rotary Clubs.<\/p>\n<p>District governor Akio Katakura, assistant district governor Cindy Siren Mori, and district secretary Satoshi Kubo arrived yesterday morning and left last night.<\/p>\n<p>The three attended the Rotary Club of Saipan general membership meeting, which is regularly scheduled every Tuesday but was moved to yesterday to accommodate the visiting officials.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe go around the district and visit all the clubs this time of the year,\u201d Mori said.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview after the meeting, Kubo said they were in Chuuk, Pohnpei, and Guam before their visit to Saipan. Theyfiveare then headed to Palau before going back to Japan. \u201cThat&#8217;s 5 islands in eight days,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Kubo described the Rotary Club of Saipan as \u201cvery impressive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Their overall visit to various Rotary Clubs included in the district were \u201cvery nice\u201d and \u201cvery enlightening,\u201d said Kubo.<\/p>\n<p>Kubo served as an interpreter for Katakura who said in his brief remarks that he is very pleased to be on Saipan and feels the \u201cvery special relationship\u201d between Japan and Saipan.<\/p>\n<p>Katakura, who donated $100 to the Rotary&#8217;s \u201csmile box,\u201d aims to look at ways to promote \u201ca stronger relationship\u201d between the Rotary Club of Saipan and Rotary International District 2750.<\/p>\n<p>The visiting officials presented a flag to Rotary Club of Saipan president Pete Igitol.
