The Commonwealth Ports Authority has selected AIC Marianas, Inc. to carry out the high roof replacement project at the Saipan International Airport for almost $4 million.<\/p>\n
AIC Marianas beat another bidder for the federally funded project after entering a bid amount of $3.948 million and naming Federal Insurance Company, a U.S. Treasury-listed company, as its bonding firm.<\/p>\n
The company also won the $2.65-million contract for the construction of a new terminal at Tinian International Airport and the contract for the ongoing perimeter security fence project at the Saipan International Airport.<\/p>\n
The high roof replacement project is expected to be completed 360 days after construction begins. According to CPA, liquidated damages of $1,000.00 will be assessed the contractor for each calendar day the completion of the project is delayed without excuse.<\/p>\n
The project will be undertaken using funds from the Federal Aviation Administration.<\/p>\n
In an earlier interview, CPA executive director Carlos H. Salas said the FAA has approved the allocation of the money to fund the repair of the airport’s roofing, which is badly needed to prevent it from further deterioration.<\/p>\n
“The roof condition has deteriorated over the years. In case a strong typhoon hits the island, the Saipan airport will definitely suffer heavily, so we need to do the repairs immediately,” Salas had pointed out.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
