{"id":85219,"date":"2004-10-29T05:33:00","date_gmt":"2004-10-29T05:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/a1061ccb-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2004-10-29T05:33:00","modified_gmt":"2004-10-29T05:33:00","slug":"a1061cdc-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/a1061cdc-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Tanapag beach site red-flagged"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Division of Environmental Quality has red-flagged the beach site along the Tanapag Meeting Hall after samples collected showed excessive concentrations of fecal indicator bacteria.<\/p>\n<p>DEQ said that concentrations of fecal coliform and enterococci on the site were found to exceed the CNMI Marine Water Quality Standards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese bacteria can indicate the presence of human and animal waste in the water. Therefore, in order to adequately address public health concerns, DEQ has given [this] location a red flag and advises the public not to fish or swim within 300 feet of these locations for the next 48 hours or until otherwise notified,\u201d the agency said.<\/p>\n<p>DEQ analyzes water samples collected from Saipan\u2019s recreational beaches and storm drainages every Wednesday. This week, the agency collected water samples from 37 locations on Saipan. <\/p>\n<p>DEQ welcomes all inquiries as to the quality of the beach water.
