Nearly $12.7 million in state and federal assistance has already been approved for more than 5,549 claims from residents who were affected by Supertyphoon Chaba.<\/p>\n<p>Federal and state disaster officials offer the following 60-day summary of assistance efforts to date:<\/p>\n<p>* 5,549 individuals fron Saipan, Rota and Tinian have applied for federal and state assistance;<\/p>\n<p>* $12,686,076 approved in grants and low-interest loans;<\/p>\n<p>* $8,488,692 approved in Housing Assistance grants for temporary rental assistance and minimal home repairs;<\/p>\n<p>* $4,193,383 approved in Other Needs Assistance grants for necessary expenses and serious needs caused by the disaster; and<\/p>\n<p>* $5,324,700 approved in U.S. Small Business Administration in low-interest loans, including 157 home loans ($4,806,500) and eight business loans ($427,700).<\/p>\n<p>Individuals or business owners who need to provide additional information concerning their application can call FEMA\u2019s Helpline at 800-621-FEMA (3362). For those with hearing or speech impairment, the TTY number is 800-462-7585.
