{"id":85319,"date":"2004-11-02T05:03:00","date_gmt":"2004-11-02T05:03:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/a1139a85-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2004-11-02T05:03:00","modified_gmt":"2004-11-02T05:03:00","slug":"a1139a99-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/a1139a99-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"GCA students go on a cultural \u2018mission\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In continuing efforts to promote appreciation for all cultures, students at Grace Christian Academy took their campaign to the street yesterday morning, marching from the school to the Commonwealth Health Center and back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s part of our annual mission\u2019s convention,\u201d said school principal Faith de la Rosa. \u201cWe\u2019re showing that we\u2019re not ashamed to spread the good news of God\u2019s love.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The event was part of the school\u2019s celebration of Mission Convention Week, which would also feature a visit from Rev. Dionson of the Philippines, who would serve as the guest speaker for the annual event.<\/p>\n<p>The theme for this year\u2019s event is \u201cI am not ashamed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis annual activity is intended for kids to think beyond themselves and to think of other people and to reach out and give a helping hand,\u201d de la Rosa said. \u201cWe\u2019re praying for needs of people. The students get to experience what missionaries are doing in different parts of world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dressed in various cultural attires, including Japanese, Hawaiian, and Tahitian, among others, junior high and high school students took part in the march, dubbed Parade of Cultures, with the assistance of an escort from the Department of Public Safety. Students in the lower grade level marched around the school campus. In all, about 372 participated in the parade. GCA president and senior pastor of the Grace Christian Ministries Rev. Raymond Kinsella also took part in the march.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cThe Parade of Cultures is to let other people know that God loves all people from different cultures,\u201d de la Rosa said. \u201cEach class represented a country they have been studying and praying for. Each made a banner with the theme.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While at CHC, the students presented Public Health Secretary Dr. James U.
