{"id":85917,"date":"2004-11-25T02:57:00","date_gmt":"2004-11-25T02:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/a16d9f97-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2004-11-25T02:57:00","modified_gmt":"2004-11-25T02:57:00","slug":"a16d9faa-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/a16d9faa-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"MHS teachers get special treat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just how much do students appreciate teachers? <\/p>\n<p>Marianas High School students answered that question with cakes, cookies, chips, sodas, and many more Tuesday afternoon, providing a special pre-Thanksgiving feast for their educating staff.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe felt that our teachers need to know that we appreciate them, even though sometimes it seems like we don\u2019t,\u201d said Student Council president Marvin Tamangided. \u201cIts our way of saying thank you for everything.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The Student Council organized a special competition between all four classes\u2014senior, junior, sophomore, and freshmen. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhoever can make the best table presentation, wins,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>Tamangided said goods were purchased with funds generated from fundraisers and donations from students.<\/p>\n<p>The senior class ended up as victors in the competition; however, physical education teacher Bobby Winkfield and the rest of the school\u2019s staff lauded all students for their generous effort.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think this is great,\u201d Winkfield said. \u201cIt just shows that the students do appreciate us and what we try to do, and it\u2019s a good feeling to see that they\u2019re appreciative.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Senior class officers Divana Dela Cruz, Andrew San Nicolas, and Sherry Ann Songsong, for their part, expressed their appreciation to the school\u2019s staff, relating the event to the meaning of Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s going to be Thanksgiving, so it\u2019s a good time for us to show our teachers that we do appreciate them and we\u2019re giving thanks for having them,\u201d Dela Cruz said. <\/p>\n<p>The school currently has 61 teachers and 19 staff members serving 1,284 students. <\/p>\n<p>Teachers and other Public School System personnel were all honored Wednesday during the celebration of Education Day at the Kagman Elementary School.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Just how much do students appreciate teachers? <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-85917","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/85917","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=85917"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/85917\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=85917"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=85917"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=85917"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
