{"id":86269,"date":"2004-12-08T05:33:00","date_gmt":"2004-12-08T05:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/a18bca1a-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2004-12-08T05:33:00","modified_gmt":"2004-12-08T05:33:00","slug":"a18bca2b-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/a18bca2b-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"AGO agrees to dismiss assault case vs woman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Attorney General\u2019s Office has agreed to dismiss with finality the criminal charges against a woman in a case initiated by her former boyfriend.<\/p>\n<p>The lawyer of Yuki Higuchi Le, who was charged with three counts of assault and battery and disturbing the peace, disclosed this development in a media release, lauding the AGO for reinvestigating the incident for which the woman was accused of committing the offenses.<\/p>\n<p>Lawyer Robert O\u2019Connor said the AGO agreed to the case\u2019s dismissal after a further review of the incident. He said there was no evidence to support the criminal charges against Le.<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Connor said police failed to ask Le about what transpired at the residence of one Manuel Alvarez, when she was actually the one who called for assistance.<\/p>\n<p>Narrating Le\u2019s version of what happened, O\u2019Connor said the woman went to Alvarez\u2019s residence earlier this year to ask the latter to return her computer. O\u2019Connor said Le and Alvarez got into a physical altercation, prompting the woman to call the police.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen the police arrived, they only interviewed Alvarez, ignoring Yuki Higuchi Le, and based only on Alvarez\u2019s version of the events, arrested Yuki Higuchi Le,\u201d O\u2019Connor said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was a nightmare for me,\u201d the media release quoted Le as saying. \u201cHow could something like that happen where the police don\u2019t even bother to interview the victim who calls for their help and instead listens only to the attacker?
