Ada Gymnasium on Tuesday night, while facing their fiercest competition to date in the Island Wide Volleyball League.

The NMC Proa (1-2) gave the Lost Boyz (4-0) just about all that they could handle in their two sets of high-powered volleyball action, and each of them went down to the wire—decided by the final two points.

Those in attendance roared when either of the teams scored a point, and leapers Freddy Pelisamen and Nan Intharaluk of the Lost Boyz gave them plenty to scream about. Setter Nick Castro provided his teammates with well-placed passes that led to the 25-23 win in the first set.

There was more of the same in the second set, as the teams needed extra points to decide the outcome. As was the case in the first, the Lost Boyz eked out a 26-24 victory to briefly separate them from the second-place Managaha Chiefs (3-0).

On the women’s side of the facility, Haz Been (1-3) did just the opposite, as they pulled into a tie for fourth place with Bootylicious. Another difference from the men’s match is that there wasn’t one—as Bootylicious didn’t show their booties in the forfeited game.

The minor disappointment on the women’s side was quickly replaced by a near upset in the second game of the men’s league, as the Floaters (0-4) came back from a one-set deficit against Shag (3-1) to force a deciding third set race to 15 points.

Myron Laniyo and the converted Rocballers shook off the setback, and were able to withstand another solid effort from the Floaters to pick up their third victory of the season.

While the top teams in the men’s league have continued to improve their position in the win-loss column, Pikan Gaga has followed suit in the women’s by having the top league-wide record at 5-0.

The Hitters (1-4) were the latest victims of the power of Gaga, as Connie Camacho and company took the game in two quick sets, 25-11 and 25-21. The score was much closer in the second set as Pikan Gaga recorded half of their points from aces, and a pair from kills.

The Lost Boyz improved their untarnished record to 4-0 at the Gilbert C.
