{"id":86658,"date":"2004-12-23T05:14:00","date_gmt":"2004-12-23T05:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/a1cfe321-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2004-12-23T05:14:00","modified_gmt":"2004-12-23T05:14:00","slug":"a1cfe332-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/a1cfe332-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Nightclub accused of employing minor, immigration fraud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Attorney General\u2019s Office filed multiple charges against a businessman and his nightclub for employing illegal aliens and exploiting at least one minor who worked as exotic dancer.<\/p>\n<p>Eric O\u2019Malley, the CNMI\u2019s immigration enforcement attorney, filed with the Superior Court 19 criminal counts against 33-year-old Takayuki Umeda and Japan Enterprises Corp., which does business as Club Micronesia.<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Malley said the nightclub employed at least one underaged girl from June to July 2004 and let her \u201cengage in prohibited conduct.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor said the defendants facilitated the girl\u2019s entry from Manila, the Philippines, to Saipan through forged documents. He accused the defendants of harboring the girl despite knowing that she was staying in the Commonwealth illegally.<\/p>\n<p>He said the defendants knowingly subscribed as true a false statement in applying for the girl\u2019s nonresident worker\u2019s permit.
