Tudela warned firearm users yesterday, saying that individuals caught firing shots on New Year\u2019s Eve and New Year\u2019s Day would be arrested.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cAuthorities will arrest anyone who is caught misusing firearms,\u201d he said. \u201cThe firearm would be confiscated and license may be suspended.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tudela said the warning is primarily for the safety of the public.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cAll you\u2019ve got to do is remember: Whatever goes up must come down, and it comes down faster,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>DPS spokesman Eric F. David said that several individuals usually fire shots into the air at this time of the year, as part of their fireworks show.<\/p>\n<p>He reminded the public that all firearm holders must have a valid license when in possession of a firearm. Also, firearms must not be loaded, and if traveling, must be locked in the trunk, or in a case and properly secured. Magazines must also be separated from the firearm, David said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Tudela also advised that kids playing with fireworks must have adult supervision.
