Over 100 applications for Plumeria Estates homes have been submitted to the Northern Marianas Housing Corp. and are currently being reviewed by various banks.<\/p>\n
Housing Task Force chair Mariano Bermudes confirmed during an interview yesterday that the applications are sent out to the banks on a weekly basis for review and approval.<\/p>\n
Bermudes said about 400 applications were picked up by interested individuals but only over 100 have submitted the forms. He said, though, that applications are still being accepted as the deadline for submission has been extended. He did not supply a specific date as to the deadline for applications but said he believes it is sometime next week.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo far, only over 100 applied, but NMHC is still receiving applications everyday,\u201d he said. \u201cWe want people to come in and submit applications so we can have the banks process them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bermudes said applications are submitted to Bank of Hawaii, First Hawaiian Bank, Bank Pacific, and Wells Fargo Financial.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Bermudes said hopes the awarding of bid for the project would be done in late January.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe would begin reviewing and evaluating bid proposal by next week, and announce award of contract for construction,\u201d he said. \u201cConstruction would begin immediately thereafter.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bermudes explained that the project should be completed 18 months after the start of construction.<\/p>\n
He said only two developers\u2014Triangle Corp. and Willis Management Group\u2014have submitted bids for the project.<\/p>\n
He said the sewer line is currently being constructed and \u201cwould be completed soon.\u201d <\/p>\n
The Plumeria Estates project involves the construction of new houses on approximately 13 hectares of land in Koblerville. Up to seven different styles of residential homes will be built based on plans and specifications provided by the Northern Marianas Housing Corp.<\/p>\n
A total of 128 houses with two-, three-, and four-bedroom units will be available to first-time homeowners at a low price.<\/p>\n
