Borja has issued a memorandum expressing his disappointment over the poor attendance shown by his employees during a recent Christmas party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am deeply disappointed and surprised that only a few Mayor\u2019s Office employees took the time to enjoy this festive occasion with me,\u201d he said in the Dec. 20 memorandum.<\/p>\n<p>Borja, who belongs to Covenant Party, said he hopes that the employees\u2019 absence was not due to politics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI sincerely hope that politics did not play a role in your decision not to attend our Christmas party. All of you should be aware that each and everyone of you deserved to attend and enjoy the celebration of our holiday season and past year\u2019s accomplishments. No one should have denied you that right,\u201d Borja told employees.<\/p>\n<p>The mayor said the gathering should have been an opportunity for him to publicly thank his employees.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs you all know, our Christmas party is my opportunity to thank each and everyone of you for your hard work and dedication for your past year\u2019s employment under my administration,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said it was also a time \u201cfor all of us to share in the accomplishments of the past and spend what few remaining months we have left in this administration together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Uneasy about the attendance, the mayor went on to ask the employees to feel free to see him \u201cif you feel there are pressing issues or other urgent matters that you would like to discuss.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Borja said he hopes that his staff would remain supportive of his administration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope your lack of attendance is not any indication of your unwillingness to continue to provide public service to the people of Tinian during my remaining term,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tinian Mayor Francisco M.
